Middlesex County
If someone in Middlesex County is in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988. The county's state-designated psychiatric emergency screening service is Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, 671 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, on its 24-hour screening line, 732-235-5700. Rutgers describes the service as available to adults. Middlesex also has an Affiliated Emergency Service at Raritan Bay Medical Center, 530 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy, 732-324-5289. For a child or teen who is not in immediate danger, call PerformCare (1-877-652-7624, 24/7). To find ongoing care, NJMentalHealthCares (1-866-202-4357, every day, 8am to 8pm) costs nothing and is not a crisis line. If cost is the obstacle, the Rutgers Center for Psychological Services (GSAPP), 152 Frelinghuysen Road, Piscataway, 848-445-6111, is a university training clinic. Some GSAPP clinics offer low-cost services based on household income and ability to pay.

The county's state-designated psychiatric emergency screening service is Oaks Integrated Care, on its 24-hour crisis line, 856-428-4357. Oaks screens adults and youth at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital, 2201 Chapel Avenue, Cherry Hill, and asks that you call before visiting. Some directories still list Cooper University Health Care as Camden County's screening center. That is out of date. To find ongoing care, NJMentalHealthCares (1-866-202-4357, every day, 8am to 8pm) costs nothing and is not a crisis line. If cost is the obstacle, Project H.O.P.E., 519–525 West Street, Camden, 856-968-2320, is a federally qualified health center that serves patients regardless of ability to pay.
