About PsychMentalHealth

PsychMentalHealth is a guide to getting mental health care in Middlesex County and Camden County, New Jersey. It explains what kind of help fits, what it costs, and who to call, so you can make the first call knowing what to ask.

Most people looking for care get stuck on the same few questions. What kind of help do I need? What will it cost? Who do I call first?

The answers exist, but they are spread across insurer directories, state lists, and provider websites, and they do not always agree. Some directories still name Cooper University Health Care as Camden County's screening center, which is out of date, and still list clinics that are temporarily closed. Our county pages note those changes where we found them.

What this site is for

Use it to understand your options, learn the vocabulary, and walk into a first appointment with better questions. Anything about your own symptoms, medication, or diagnosis belongs with a clinician who can assess you.

Open about who runs it

PsychMentalHealth is published by an operator with a working relationship with Periscope Behavioral Health, which runs outpatient behavioral health programs in Middlesex and Camden counties, including Emerald Wellness in Kendall Park and South Jersey Recovery Program in Berlin. Those programs are not included in this site's county guides or articles, but a message sent through our contact form may be passed to one of them if you ask us to.

Sourced and dated

Facts about coverage, eligibility, phone numbers, and programs come from the organization that runs them or from a government source. Each guide shows when it was published and when it was last reviewed.

Two counties, in detail

The county pages and town guides cover Middlesex and Camden counties only. Some articles explain New Jersey programs and rules that apply statewide, such as NJ FamilyCare and the state's telehealth law. Local clinics and phone numbers anywhere on the site are for those two counties.
