If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis in the U.S., call or text 988.

Three different places in South Jersey carry the Gloucester name. This guide is about Gloucester Township, the 24-square-mile township in **Camden County** that takes in Blackwood, Sicklerville, Glendora, Erial and the Lakeland area. It is not Gloucester County, which is a separate county, and it is not Gloucester City.

That sounds like trivia until you search for help at 11 p.m. Search results mix the three together, and a Gloucester County crisis number or county office does not serve a township resident. Everything below is in Camden County, most of it inside the township or a short drive from it. Camden County's own mental health office is in the township, on Lakeland Road in Blackwood.

> **Call 911 if anyone is in immediate danger.** For thoughts of suicide or a mental health crisis, call or text **988**, any hour. Camden County's crisis screening service, run by Oaks Integrated Care, answers **856-428-4357** around the clock. Our [crisis page](/crisis/) has the rest.

**Quick answer:** Call 911 if anyone is in immediate danger. For thoughts of suicide or a mental health crisis, call or text 988, any hour. Gloucester Township is in Camden County, so if someone may be a danger to themselves or others but is not in immediate danger, call Camden County's crisis screening service, run by Oaks Integrated Care, at 856-428-4357 (856-428-HELP), 24 hours a day. For a Camden County adult who needs help now but not a hospital, Oaks runs a walk-in Mental Health Urgent Care at 2051 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, 856-254-3800, and offers telehealth during the same hours. For low-cost ongoing care, CAMcare has an open site at 121 White Horse Pike, Clementon, with a sliding fee discount; one number schedules every site, 856-583-2400.

## Is there a mental health urgent care near Gloucester Township?

There is a gap between "this can wait for an appointment" and "this needs a hospital." For a Camden County adult, 18 or older, who is in that gap, Oaks runs a walk-in **Mental Health Urgent Care** at **2051 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill**, **856-254-3800**.

From Blackwood or Sicklerville that is a real drive. Oaks offers telehealth during the same hours as walk-ins, weekdays 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., so the first contact does not have to mean getting in the car. Our [Cherry Hill guide](/articles/mental-health-cherry-hill-nj/) covers what a visit involves, how long the team stays involved, what it costs and what to do after hours.

## The county office on Lakeland Road

The **Camden County Office of Mental Health and Substance Use** is at **512 Lakeland Road, Blackwood**. Its general line, **856-374-6361**, is the number the county lists for information and drug treatment referrals.

Be clear on what this office is. The county says it does not provide mental health or substance use treatment directly. Staff help residents identify services and connect with community resources. That makes it a good first call when the problem is drinking or drug use and you have no idea which program takes your insurance, or when you have been bounced between agencies and need someone who knows the county map.

## Where can you get weekly therapy near Sicklerville and Clementon?

**Oaks Integrated Care, Sicklerville.** Oaks' locations page lists an office at **557 Williamstown Road, Sicklerville**, **856-740-0589**, among its Camden County sites. The page does not say which programs run there, so call before you go, or call the Oaks Access Center, **1-800-963-3377**, weekdays 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and ask which office fits what you need.

**CAMcare, Clementon.** CAMcare Health Corporation is a community health center network with an open site at **121 White Horse Pike, Clementon**, just over the township line. CAMcare says its behavioral health team is made up of licensed clinical social workers. On its insurance page, CAMcare says no one is denied care because they cannot pay, and it offers a sliding fee discount based on income and family size. One number schedules every site: **856-583-2400**. CAMcare does not say which sites offer behavioral health, so ask when you call.

## Camden County College students in Blackwood

If you are enrolled at Camden County College, you have free counseling on the Blackwood campus. The college's Center for Counseling and Wellness offers every currently enrolled student an in-person first consultation and up to six therapy sessions per semester.

- **Where:** Taft Hall, Room 302, in the Advisement Center on the third floor.
- **How to book:** email **counseling@camdencc.edu**. Telehealth appointments are available on request.
- **Who:** the college lists two part-time licensed professional counselors. Common reasons students come in include anxiety, depression, relationship problems and the adjustment to college.
- **Longer-term needs:** students who need ongoing treatment or a higher level of care may be referred to community providers, and the counseling staff help with that referral.

The college also gives students free teletherapy through **Uwill**, which includes a direct crisis connection. You register with your college email. Six sessions a semester is short, so if you expect to need more, ask at the first appointment where you would go next.

## High school students and the Black Horse Pike district

The township lists the **Black Horse Pike Regional School District** as its regional school board. The high schools on the township's school list include Highland in Blackwood, Timber Creek in Erial and Triton in Runnemede.

The district's student suicide prevention policy, last revised in September 2024, sets out what happens when a student shows warning signs at school. Staff report it to the principal or a designee right away. The principal contacts the parents immediately, refers the student to the Child Study Team or a Suicide Intervention Team for a preliminary assessment, and then meets with the parents to review it.

For a parent, the important part is what comes after that meeting, because the policy gives the school real leverage. Based on the assessment, parents may be required to get medical or psychiatric services for the student. If parents object or will not cooperate, the policy says the principal will contact the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency to request help on the student's behalf. And a student who was required to get those services needs a written clearance before coming back: the parents give it to the superintendent, and it must come from a licensed medical professional the parents choose and the superintendent approves.

The policy also says the district will not make parents pay for that psychiatric clearance. If money is tight, that is worth knowing before the meeting. For warning signs and how to start the conversation at home, read our [parent's guide](/articles/teen-child-mental-health-help-nj/).

## Say "Gloucester Township, Camden County" on every call

When you call a referral line, a school, or an insurer's behavioral health number, give your township and county in the same breath: Gloucester Township, Camden County. A caller who says "Gloucester" alone can end up with Gloucester County referrals that do not apply.
